I want my age to be visible and celebrated in Fashion and Beauty so I when I was asked to join in with Willowberry Skin in the #agewithoutapologypledge to raise awareness and hopefully bring about change to the words and emphasis put on anti ageing!
Turning the pages of a newspaper or magazine or going online to read a column or feature saying that ‘she’ looks good for over 40, 50 or 60 makes my blood boil … How does that make any woman feel!? How should we look at 51 then?
According to a number of adverts I’ve seen I should be walking with a stick and sipping coco and planning for my old age retirement home ! How do I feel at 51 really - I feel at my most confident, my happiest - yes menopause sucks (and we all need to talk more about that too) but I’m proud to be 51 and I don’t want to turn the clock back - I just want to feel good and look good for ME - not for anyone else, for me…I always want to feel like the best version of me - I did in my 20s, 30s and 40s too - it’s who I am nothings changed inside!
None of us know how long we have on this planet - some are taken sooner than others but I want to live my life without apology, I want to be accepted as the same person I was (and still am) in my younger years now I am mid life …
Age is just a number and we are all going to get older ‘fact’ … so why is it something we have dreaded. I personally have no problem at all if an individual wishes to engage in any form of advanced treatments for their skin or body (it’s their choice) BUT here’s the thing we don’t need to apologise for getting old, we don’t want to be made to feel we are not worth it after a certain age and we don’t want to feel we aren’t seen anymore.
I am the age I am and I want to look good whatever age I am!
Seriously let’s celebrate getting older, feel good with great skincare, look good by understanding and being authentically you in your style and enjoy life - because we only get one shot at it ladies
